It was very easy to setup, I read some reviews that said the priming portion was hard to understand, it wasn't. There are several more customizable settings that I have not played with because I was able to fine tune to my tastes without having to use them. I recommend using a gram scale to help narrowing down the grind amount via the setting then you are good to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vanda from Beyond happy This is our third semi-automated espresso machine. We returned the previous two. We have had this one for about a month and I am beyond happy. It makes HOT espresso which is the most important issue for me. I hate hate hate lukewarm coffee. My friends bought a fully automated espresso machine Italian brand, paid over 3000 usd and honestly this Kitchen Aid one makes better coffee. Espresso comes with a beautiful crema on top. Tastes silky smooth. I didn't use espresso beans yet, finishing regular coffee beans from Costco, however, it already exceeded my expectations. We learned that the water tank has to be at least 1/3 full (maybe it has something to do with the pressure? idk ). I am beyond happy, hope the machine will hold for some time. I also happened to score a bit of a deal which always helps, however, knowing how good the espresso is i would totally pay a full price. Great value.

It has the little features which delight like a tab in the catch tray that pops up indicating when the tray is full and needs emptying or the storage for the extra accessories. I've appreciated having the ability to adjust the grind, temperature, etc to get the perfect espresso. The startup guide was helpful as well.
