We've had our Kitchenaid mixer for a couple of years now and have taken up baking bread about 2 to 4 times per month, so our dough hook gets a good amount of use. So far, I have zero issues. It's been a great accessory, and unlike other reviewers, I've not had any issues with chipping. I should note, I'm not the most gentle home-cook and have banged this hook in the sink washing it many a time including just this afternoon. Maybe there was a bad batch of these made? In either case, I'm a thoroughly satisfied customer!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Alex426 from Not Dishwasher Safe Hi KitchenAid and customers of this product! I have an Artisan Tilthead Mixer and use it since 2015. Using already the third of this. Cause the first two had the known problem of the coat/paint chipping after Not Even a year of usage. On the third I decided to no use the dishwasher for this product. And Guess what? After 5 years it is still perfect. I know, not everyone likes to wash it by hand. But the only other option is to buy the more expansive upgrade model with the Silver coating. Customer Service had been great to me cause they always changed them without complaining. But hey KitchenAid, stop telling to your customers that this product is dishwasher safe. It is clearly not

However, similar to all other reviews here, the coating has started chipping off on the dough hook of our mixer. Disappointed on the quality of this accessory on an expensive product. was expecting more from Kitchenaid and was really surprised to hear that the unit is only on a 1yr limited warranty. compare this to some other equipment where a different reseller replaced the utensil for a electric cooker three years after purchase due to coat peeling.

Much like others, I have resorted to making most breads and pastries for my family instead of hunting for them in stores due to COVID-19. I noticed my dough hook started chipping and like other reviewers, I stopped using it because I was worried these pieces would get into the food. After reading reviews, it seems there is a flaw in the manufacturing of this product. Given this is a pricy brand, it is disappointing that the quality is poor.
