I bought this Range Hood throught Lowe's to match all my other Kitchen aid appliances.. received it in the time frame that was promised... but unfortunately my builder was not at a point to install yet, so had it in storage for over a month before installation could be done... low and behold... didn't realize had to order the motor separately. So... thought ordering direct from Kitchen Aid would be quicker.... it was not... takes almost another month to receive... I tried calling to expedite if possible but talk about a run around... I must have talked to every Kitchen aid customer support person in the U.S.! with no results... so I sit and wait to have my kitchen completed. Has to be inspected after installation so lesson learned...

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ray- from Motor stopped working after 4 years It has good looking design, though the practicality falls short as there is grease/oil collected on the back plate that holds the two heating/warming lamps. This occurred despite regular routine cleaning of the grease filter. The blower motor stopped working at low speeds after 4 years. After removing the motor assembly it appeared that the fan has touched the metal side plate, which caused friction and stopped the fan from turning. A little adjustment and it's good to go again. But significant amount of grease has also built up within the motor compartment as well. That again shows an improvement in the design of grease/oil collection is much needed for a easier routine maintenance. Customers shouldn't have to dig into the motor assembly to clean out collected grease in there. Other reviews about the side switch panel are on point. Certainly commercial-style in appearance but not commercial grade in functionality and durability

Rated 3 out of 5 by J to the B from Excellent Exhaust. Extremely Poor Slider Switch I have had the same problem as others. The hood is fantastic. I basically use my range as a grill in my house. I coupled this with an inline blower and it would suck the shirt off you while you are cooking. At full blast it will draw as much finely ground pepper into the hood as falls into the pan I'm cooking in. This is a good thing because I can always put in on a lower setting. However, the plastic slider switch cover is almost treated as a consumable. In 5 years I've replaced it 5 times. The heat from the range makes the plastic brittle. Why this is not made from machined aluminum escapes me. They are ~$90 a piece if I replace it myself. I am replacing this for the second time in 5 months. No matter how good this hood is the need to replace the switch so often might drive you crazy. If you are buying this for look then you can't do better. If you cook at home daily this will break often.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MBP SF from Some downsides We have had this for six years. We have replaced the slider switch cover (for the fan and lights) four times at $80 each time for the replacement part. It's cheap plastic and breaks if you are not gentle with it. We wash the grates regularly, yet grease collects inside and runs down the back of the until through the seams and has ruined our marble backsplash. It does have a very good exhaust ability. We use it on a stove that has an indoor grill function and it works for that.
