Better than most
Thanks for asking. This is our 2nd KitchenAid. Previous was a side-by-side and we loved but redid our kitchen and added 5 new KA appliances. Our new refrigerator is the French Door. Several comments with it. First, the ice maker is most inconvenient. It is a real pain to get to for off/on. We have back issues and its a strain to get to the lever. Why don't you put it in the front with an easy on/off switch. We don't want a door ice dispenser!!! Also, the freezer does not look to have the same capacity as our side-by-side. Requires us to use the fridge in the garage more. Also, the full width drawer on the inside is poorly designed. Both outer doors need to be opened to get to. Impossible when arms are full. Would rather have a 2nd set of split drawers like the set above it. Also, when outer doors are closing, they often close with a loud bang, particularly the left door. Why not have a "soft" auto-closing system like our kitchen drawers? This will allow the doors to close softly and automatically.
Would we buy again? Not sure. We are big fans of Kitchen Aid and would likely do a lot more researching with other brands. We have never had a French Door design before and will not get it again.

Efficient but door problems
I love all the products KitchenAid makes but my refrigerator doors have spring problems. It makes a broken spring sound that gets worse and require a technician to come out and adjust it. Strange issue for such a greay company.

Freezer door had issues but addressed by Mfg.
I bought this a few months ago and the freezer door had defects including sharp edges and a dented door. Sales company spoke to Kitchen Aid and I opted to get a new door rather than a different brand because I liked the style and inside of the fridge better than other brands. I received the new freezer door and I am quite happy so far.

Meets expectations
Unit fits into space where previous unit was, Design sleek and glossy black finish is very attractive and does not show fingerprints. Layout OK but would prefer if vegetable drawer could be opened without having to open both refrigerator doors. Otherwise lots of useful space in very useful layout in both the refrigerator and freezer.

Beautiful refrigerator!
Itās a beautiful refrigerator, and the platinum interior is elegant. Takes a while to get used to, because itās much darker than a white interior.
Hard to see bottom shelf of freezer. Higher held lit; there is no light at the bottom level.
Less capacity than previous built-on. Bought extra door shelves to increase capacity.

Great Product, I would change a few things though.
I have been waiting to replace my old bottom mount single door K/A built-in for several years as I was waiting for the 36" wide french door model to arrive. So far it has been a good product, runs very quiet with no issues. Here are a few things I would recommend for changes or improvements:
1) The left side door when allowed to close on its own slams way too hard. I realize it needs a little boost to actuate the sealing plate between the doors, but this is a lot. The items in the door shelves bounce around and sound like they are going to break sometimes due the door closing speed. Some type of slow close dampener would be nice.
2) The freezer door takes what I think is an excessive amount of opening force to overcome the seals, once it has unsealed itself the door opens the rest of the way very easily. I could see where this would be a bigger issue with the elderly or handicapped. There should be an optional foot pedal operated lever that can give some initial assist when opening the freezer.
3) There is no way to shut off the icemaker, the operating manual says to lift a lever which does not exist in this model.
4) The control panel display only shows the SET values of the refrigerator and freezer compartments. My old unit showed the ACTUALl temperatures as well as the setpoints. I had to purchase a pair of thermometers for the two compartments to have the peace of mind of knowing that they are always at the proper temperature.
5) This is just a personal preference, but I would prefer a white interior instead of the gray.
6) There is no butter tray.

can't tell the internal temperature
I bought this refrigerator a month ago, and I still can not figure out how to determine the internal temperature of the refrigerator. The manual doesn't specify this information and the sales reps (Howard's) were no help at all. The kitchenaid website also was not helpful in trying to solve, and calling during the posted service hours left my call unanswered. Really??! Have to say that I am a bit disappointed.

I wish I had bought just the regular refrigerator instead of this built in (the only reason I purchased the built in was to replace the built in that was came with our home). on the positive side, the old builtin had apparently lasted for over 20 years; however, I do not anticipate that this newer one will last that long.
This refrigerator does NOT seem to have as much space as the older model and the interior appears to be much "dimmer" (i.e., not well lighted, in my opinion). This model does not have a compartment designed for butter (no compartment has a cover that the older model did have). The freezer section in this newer model seems much smaller than the older model, and it too seems not well lighted. I would do further research if I had to buy again.

Over priced Refrigerator for Quality
I have had my refrigerator for less than a year and a couple of bins have broken. And that is not the worst part but I can't find replacement parts. It disappointing what I have spent on this refrigerator and can't find these parts have only owned it for 8 months

Regret buying
Bought this about two years ago as part of a complete kitchen redo. Regret buying it. Performs okay, but reliability is mediocre. Interior LED lights have failed twice and the icebox control arm constants falls off and is way too difficult to reconnect.

Built in is not really a built in
This is not a true ābuilt-inā refrigerator. Cost the same as other high end built-ins but sticks out past the cabinet so door can open - does not have the swing out hinges. Paid way too much for such a oversight.

nice design
We have a smaller kitchen so we wanted a built in to save some space. We soon discovered that the freezer space is limited after emptying our old refrigerator. this was disappointing. Within the first few days the lights fell off the produce draw so we had to set up a service call. We are also surprised as to how hard the doors slam if you done hold them. Hopefully we wont have anymore issue going forward.

Fits the Hole in my wall
I replaced an older Sub-Zero fridge, and this unit fit in my cabinet hole perfectly. For the price, this is a great built in fridge. It holds a temperature, and the limited inside space is organized reasonably.
However, for the price I would wish that it would include other small features like a door alarm.

Replacement for older Kitchen Aid
Our previous side-by-side Kitchen Aid died after 17 years so we replaced with another Kitchen Aid. After 6 weeks, still trying to adjust to French Door design. Less room, particularly for fresh vegetables and fruit, is an issue so far. Veggie drawer only holds one pack of salad with small bag of carrots. Just making more trips to the store.

French door refrigerator
Bought this as a replacement for an older failing Sub Zero. Unit works very nice but the shelves in the doors are very small. A lot of space is lost due to the width of the molded shelf mounts in the door and the mating ends on the individual shelves. The french door design also loses some storage space compared to a single refrigerator door.

How do you spend so much $ & no egg or butter tray
I just had my Kitchen Aid black stainless built in refrigerator excitedly delivered. It does look beautiful. But for the price, Kitchen aid should include a butter tray, egg tray and freezer racks.The paperwork should include what trays come with the refrigerator, no where in the paperwork or website does it list parts included. The pictures make it seem like all the trays included. See picture.

I paid more that $10K for a āHigh-endā refrigerator and it is a piece of junk! Within 2 years the door hinges failed so the doors donāt stay closed, and the ice maker stopped working. Along with that, the unit does not have an āopen doorā alarm, which units ten times cheaper have. It it garbage so donāt waste your money.

Poor quality control. The evaporator is leaking water inside. Just is a sign of time maximizing profit over pride in craftsmanship. My first kitchen aid refrigerator that was replaced lasted 25 years. This is another Boeing story about American manufacturing. Trying to get it fixed.

6 year old faulty cooling system not repairable
We had this ābuilt-inā refrigerator installed in our new house in 2017. It was part of a contractor package so our choices were limited. It worked well for the most part over the past 6 years, but had repeated problems with door alignment, loud hinge noise, and faulting magnetic seal; all of which defied repeated repair attempts. Now in 2023, the cooling system failed due to a coolant leak. The warranty says the parts (if available?) should be covered up to 12 years, but the labor would not. We are willing to repair it under those conditions, however, the certified technician says it cannot be repaired, the only option is to replace it. Whirlpool then only offered us a 20% discount on a new one, proposing a $7000 charge to replace a āhigh-endā appliance only 6 years old. Does this sound like the warranty is being interpreted correctly? Very disappointed.

Looks great, keeps breaking
Last kitchenaid lasted 19 years, 2 repairs in its lifetime. In 1 1/2 years this new one has needed service 4 times already. Pretty sure this one won't last 5 years. Totally not worth $6000.

It's been 16 months and lights are out, torsion springs in the doors make big boing! noise every time we open the door and the ice maker level senser freezes up regularly. Frankly, disappointed. The level of quality for the price is a big disconnect.

Nice fridge - BUT lighting is a problem!!
Overall a nice fridge we were pleased with - until about 1 year into using it. Lighting is a HUGE problem - the LED lights that according to the user manual should never need replacement and are VERY expensive keep failing. Started with a couple lights, then 6 incl. freezer compartment got replaced them with warranty service (OEM parts), incl. control boards, then new ones failed again, and as of today ZERO lights are working. Lots of reports about lighting problems out there, and no good fix offered by Kitchenaid. Not happy about now using a flashlight to find stuff in a $7K+ fridge ...

Not what I expected in a Kitchenaid Appliance
I love Kitchenaid appliance - small appliance and major appliances. I just purchased a Kitchenaid induction cooktop (5 stars) for the same kitchen. In the recent past, Iāve purchased a duel fuel double oven range (a high quality machine) and a refrigerator/freezer for an apartment (which I like a lot, and it also has French doors). Now I have this very expensive, very large French door panel-ready refrigerator. This refrigerator is a HUGE disappointment. There were no photos of the interior available when we purchased it, so we had to rely on a floor model that was supposed to be very similar - it wasnāt. The available storage space is much less than anticipated (see photos). The produce compartments are miniscule. To open one of the produce doors you need to have both exterior doors open otherwise the drawer hits to door. The interior of the refrigerator is very shallow. Even the storage space on the insides of the doors is more limited than much smaller French door models weāve had in other houses: I canāt even fit the butter container in the door because the holder is too narrow at the top and the container lid catches on it. I am also not a fan of the platinum interior - too dark. Were it to do all over again, I would select another refrigerator. I purchased this appliance because I have never been disappointed by Kitchenaid. The record is now broken.
