Comes with an extra long cord that can be tucked into the base. I'll be using this for years. Nice to have a space separate from the stove to have boiling water on demand. Love the safety feature of the automatic shut off. (I'm terrible about leaving teapots boiling...)

It worked great and still functioned, but wasn't quite as shiny as it had once been after a decade or more of use. The new kettle has a beautiful shine and sparkle, and it's my favorite small kitchen appliance. Kitchen Aid really has a winner with this kettle. It brings water to a boil quickly and the nice handle makes it safe and easy to use.
