It has a blue backlight that indicates water level and a quiet signal to let you know water is ready. It also has a helpful feature of real-time temperature display and a hold feature to maintain water temperature.

If I am boiling a large pot of water for pasta I usually fill this up and the pot half way. It saves time getting the whole mess to a boil.
