STEP 3: BLEND

Secure the lid on your blender jar. Select the juicing option, if your blender has one. Otherwise, turn the dial to speed 1 or low, gradually increasing the speed to high. Blend for about 1 to 2 minutes or until the juice appears smooth.

STEP 4: POUR JUICE THROUGH FINE MESH SIEVE

Your juice will be a bit thicker since you are technically blending all parts of the ingredients, rather than extracting juice. To achieve the thinner juice consistency, you can blend in a bit more water and then line a fine mesh sieve with a double layer of cheesecloth. Pour the juice through the lined sieve into a container, pressing the solids with a rubber spatula to extract all of the juice.

STEP 5: SERVE AND ENJOY

Once you’ve created your juice and it’s the consistency and flavor you want, it’s ready to serve. Pour your juice in a glass over ice and store any extra in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

WHAT ARE THE BEST VEGETABLES TO USE FOR GREEN JUICE?

The best vegetables to juice include cucumbers, leafy greens such as kale, spinach and romaine, carrots, beets, broccoli and celery. These vegetables are not only healthy, they also make for delicious juices when combined with fruits and other ingredients. A powerful blender works great for juicing vegetables that are more dense, such as kale.

CAN YOU ADD FRUIT TO GREEN JUICE RECIPES?

You can add fruit to your green juice recipes to reap the health benefits of the fruit, as well as add sweetness and flavor. Adding sweet fruits such as apples, melon or oranges can provide a concentrated punch of sweetness while still primarily using healthy greens. You can also add a squeeze of lemon or lime for a bright flavor boost without adding too much sugar.

For instance, this Spinach Pineapple Juice combines the health benefits of spinach with the sweet flavor of pineapples. This Tropical Carrot Juice includes pineapple, cantaloupe and carrots for a fresh and flavorful juice you can make easily in your KitchenAid® blender.

CAN YOU MAKE GREEN JUICE THE NIGHT BEFORE?

You may want to make your green juice the night before if you are meal prepping for the day. Although green juice is best when enjoyed immediately, it can be stored for 24-48 hours in an airtight container and enjoyed later. Sometimes the juice will separate a bit, so be sure to stir before you drink it.

CAN YOU FREEZE GREEN JUICE?

You can freeze green juice to drink later if you know that you will not be able to finish it within 48 hours. Be sure to freeze it in an airtight container. Liquids will expand when frozen, so make sure to leave a little extra room in the container. When you are ready to enjoy the green juice, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator and then drink it immediately.
