Alex won two Emmy awards for his work on his most recent feature documentary WILDLAND. The film received grants from Sundance, ITVS, and Telluride Mountainfilm, and went on to play theatrically in over a dozen cities and was broadcast nationally on Independent Lens. The film was additionally nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Nature Documentary.

Previously Alex produced and edited LOW & CLEAR which won the Audience Award at SXSW and played at True/False, HotDocs and IDFA. He also created the documentary web-series SPARROW SONGS which landed him on Filmmaker Magazine’s list of The 25 New Faces of Independent Film and earned him a World Press Photo Award nomination.

On the commercial side Alex has directed campaigns for a diverse client list including Filson, Patagonia, Chevrolet, Ram Trucks, and the US Army.

In 2018, Alex was named as the Sundance Institute | Discovery Impact fellow for his work telling stories that showcase the natural world.

Alex began his career at 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks, working closely under Spike Lee and Oscar-nominated Editor Barry Brown on multiple films including Inside Man.
