While Richard grew up with three sisters, he was the only kid in the kitchen helping his mother, who was proud of her eager rice maker and seaweed toaster. After stints in teaching and business, Richard’s true fulfillment comes from becoming a father and enjoying how his sons devour the delicious meals he prepares for them. Their happiness encourages his journey to share his culinary passion with others. Driven by a competitive spirit and never settling for anything but the best, Richard spent three years in front of Block Party slinging tacos, winning the best vegan taco competition with his chile relleno con mole, and expanding his menu to include vegan fried chicken sandwiches, which became so popular that he started a truck solely dedicated to them.
Since the pandemic, Richard and his wife, Janelle, embarked on their first fast casual venture Wolfie’s Hot Chicken, with friend and business partner, Jason Eisner.
